Hey, thought I'd introduce myself!

I'm Theresa...Research Manager for Huntington Paranormal Investigations and Research. I'm an unemployed paralegal working on my psych degree at Marshall, which will have to wait until after my baby is born, lol. When I'm not too distracted with incubating life, I can usually be found geocaching, traveling, reading, or working on my personal website, Theresa's Haunted History of the Tri-State.

so...

Hey everyone! *waves*

Oh, not much...just creating life, hehe.

I'm almost five months pregnant, and have been REALLY sick and having a lot of complications, but everything looks good now! I lost one of my twins, but the other baby is healthy and happy and growing rapidly...and finally letting Mommy get some ghost hunting in.

How about yourself?

Not in any official capacity...in fact, I don't think I've even been there since I was about ten, lol.

However, I stayed at the Blennerhassett Hotel about 3 or 4 years ago while taking the Haunted Parkersburg Ghost Tour. Again, no official investigation, but we explored the hotel that night. The only thing out of the ordinary was that the elevator always stopped at the second floor even if no one was getting off or getting on at that floor, lol.

We're scheduled to assist another team with a local historic home in late June, and then we've been invited to investigate three of the homes featured on our Guyandotte tour that we have to do sometime before the end of August. One will actually be our third visit to that particular location, hehe.

Other than that, we've got a follow up with a private residence, and have to decide at our next meeting whether we're going to finally take up our offer on the Lowe Hotel, or pursue the Gen. Lewis Inn first. Personally, I'm leaning toward the Gen. Lewis. I got back from a Civil War Days fundraising meeting this evening, and was treated to some ghostly personal experiences from some women who stayed there during last weekends Civil War festivities, hehe.

That sounds really cool. Yeah we are a bit booked up our selves. We will be doing Bushy Run Battlefield up in Pa. That formed the city of Pittsburgh. Susposedly alot of activity at this civil war battlefield. We really are looknig forward tot his investigation. We have an investigation May 22 at the Carolina Business Center but over 100 years ago it was a Mine that consumed numerous lives. It was very horrible. We will be doing the largest new and used bookstore in west virginia lcoated in parkersburg in august. But thats just to name a few that we are doing. We love to do this. I was in the Air Force and I got the oppertunity to investigate nationally and internationally which has give me alot of experience. I got to investigate The Alamo in San Antonio texas but nothing came up on evidence

I've heard about the Lowe Hotel in Manson County. It could easily be the most haunted hotel in West Virginia. But other then that I dont know much about its history. I've always wanted to investigate the Greenbriar Hotel. i heard its got alot of activity.

The General Lewis Inn. Ive heard about some of its activity and its suspose to be very active. I'd like to investigate that place in the future. West Virginia is loaded with Civil War history. The lady thats joining us on our ivnestigation tomorrow is a decendant of Robert E. Lee and has an original painting of him which is amazing. One of our investigators is a decendant of Davy Cockett and 2 other people i've ivnestigated with but its been awhile is related to edgar allen poe. Most people dont realize how many well known people lived in this area. Its rather wild. West Virginia is one of the few states in the nation that has a bloody history behind it.

Honestly, a lot of the activity at the Lowe Hotel is exaggerated, lol. I've stayed there several times and aside from a bone chilling coldness that I couldn't shake, and that no one else felt, I've never experienced anything there. Its great for tourism, and is a great place to stay during the Mothman Festival, but so many of the things people report are so easily dismissed.

If you get a chance to go, definitely talk to the guys at the Mothman Museum. The museum is located in what was originally part of the hotel's lower floor that was rented out to local businesses. The guy who runs the website for both places will be more than happy to show you his ghost pictures, one taken in the lobby of the Lowe, and other in the MothMan's movie viewing room, which is also allegedly haunted.

But, if anyone is interested in the history and some of the more famous haunts of the Lowe, I have a write-up on my personal site:

Yeah, you get that kind of activity. I investigated Moundsville Prison 3 years ago exerience wise nothing happened and no audio at all. But I caught a picture of a solid black figure standing up in a doorway with no door. Its posted on our website. It was let down at the Prison, so I havent gone back. Me and a couple other investigators are doing that Sept 19th event at the Weston State Hospital. We've never investigated at the hospital before, so we are looking forward to that hopefully its got better results then what moundsville had. Have you guys ever investigated the Prison or Weston Hospital? But yeah, most of the time you can explain alot of events that take place in a so-called haunted place. But at old as the lowe hotel is, I wouldnt be surprised if something is going on. Just depends on what kind of activity. None of us has ever gotten into cryptozoology. The mothman is interesting. But we honestly dont have any desire to investigate it. But we would check out the Mothman Museum if were ever in the area. There was a mothman sighting in the county just to our west in Doddridge County.

I think a lot of problems with these tourist places like Moundsville, is that they get more ghost hunter wanna-bees than real ghost hunters. I know there are places in Ohio that they will not let my group into. They tell us we are 'to thorough'. I guess that is a nice way of saying they don't want us to disprove there claims. lol

We do have Moundsville scheduled for a private investigation in June, so it should be interesting.

Yeah if all possible we try to do private investigations. We dont around people who claim to be ghost hunters when in reality they mess around and dont act like ghost hunters. Moundsville is alright. We never had anything go on and didnt pick you one single audio clip. We dont plan on going back anytime soon. They spirits probably get tired of people trying to get them to do stuff and after awhile they must ignore us or something. You should check into the Weston State Hospital, much larger then Moundsville. Over 3000+ people died at Weston Hospital and plus its the 2nd largest hand-cut structure in the world. Its enormous and had some very violent patients during its operating time.

Thanks, I will check that out. I am not real excited out Moundsville. Let me say, that scheduling it with the people that are now in charge there was no fun at all. affraid

Not as a group. Aside from doing Bobby Mackey's, which was a horrid investigation, hehe, we don't do pay to plays as group endeavors. Many of us in the group have investigated the prison on our own time, and I think I'm the only one in the group who went to Weston before the new owners took over. I was romantically linked at one point to someone with access...and the place was REALLY a mess, still reeling from damage from the paintball incident. Several of us did do a daytime tour right after the new owners took over, but before they were doing the ghost hunts.

I'd like to hunt there, but not with the new management its under, and especially not after TAPS was there. I've said many times in many places I'm glad it wasn't torn down...and I'd rather see it be a tourist trap than to lose such a landmark that holds a personal meaning to me (I had an aunt pass away there). But...I have little desire to hear exaggerated claims and pay outrageous fees. I don't doubt there's a lot of leftover energy left in that building, and of course, I'm always a fan of being given access to huge, historical buildings to explore (I could honestly live happily ever after in the basement of the Keith Albee, hehe), but I don't see us doing this one as a group any time soon.

I've heard alot of bad things about Bobby Mackeys Music World. Suspose to have alot of negative energy there.

I've never been in the Weston State Hospital. 2 workers there that i know has told me some of the crazy experiences they have had. One saw a man dressed in a white doctor coat/smock walking through a door and hav eheard doors slam shut typical stuff that would go on. I'm looking forward to investigating it Sept 19th. hopefully its a good experience that i have. I was hoping to they would not tear it down. Its amazing how it was built. its the 2nd largest had cut structure in the world that would be horrible to tear it down. Iwas even amazed they wanted to put a casino in it.

Just wanted to stop by and say "hi!" I've checked in periodically, but haven't really posted anything for a LONG time, lol.

Anyway, an update: my little boy, Luke, was born September 21; over a month early. I went into labor at 28 weeks, so spent a month in the hospital, then home for a few weeks on bed rest, which put me out of the paranormal business for awhile (and made me miss a round of our ghost tours). But...within two weeks of his birth, I was back in the game, investigating the Z.D. Ramsdell House.

Hope everyone is doing hauntingly well!
